• ScottishPower has started to consult with landowners, stakeholders and interested parties about proposals to extend its existing Hatfield Moor gas storage operation using an existing underground reservoir at Hatfield West.
  • Hatfield West is an existing gas field from which most of the naturally occurring gas has been extracted. To re-use this existing resource for gas storage. ScottishPower proposes to seek planning permission and hazardous substances consent from Doncaster Metropolitan Borough Council, alternatively it can seek authorisation from the Government.
  • The application will be made after ScottishPower has completed its environmental impact assessment (EIA) process, which will include production of an environmental statement and other documents. When it makes an application, ScottishPower will hold a further exhibition.
  • Located adjacent to the existing Hatfield Moor reservoir and exported/imported via our existing Lindholme Gas Processing Site and connecting pipeline, this proposal will enable us to store much needed gas supplies to power the UK’s homes.
